The 3 types of content you need

When we create content it is very important to understand that every piece of content has a purpose and therefore also should have a goal. Simply posting content just to appear active might actually lead to the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. A follower that is confused by different pieces of content and does not understand your business values will most likely never buy from you.

“A follower that is confused by different pieces of content and does not understand your business values will most likely never buy from you.”

To avoid this confusion make sure every content has a clear purpose in your social media strategy. In all my Social Media Manager packages but also my Social Media Coaching you will be provided with my content calendar which not only shows you when to post, but also what purpose your content should have.

The 3 types of content

Let’s take a look on the 3 types of content and what purpose they should have.

  • Content to build

  • Content to grow

  • Content to sell

Content to build

Imagine a user who finds your account on their explore page because you posted a picture about your amazing products. The interest is there, your products look amazing. They go to your profile and see more pictures of your products. Your bio says: order now and your website link. They go on to read your captions and see call to actions such as “buy now” “order online now”. Well, it’s a very forward strategy, really trying to sell. But the user is completely uneducated about your business, your values, the sustainability side of your business that might make them want to support you even more. All these are important factors to make the user want to buy from you. Never underestimate the power of building a relationship with your audience. There are many different ways you can do that. Meet the team and behind the scenes are just 2 examples of how you can build a relationship with your community.

Content to grow

Having a great relationship with your community is amazing, but let’s be honest, there is a limited amount the same customer can buy from you. Especially if you focus on mainly one product or service. To grow a community is one of the most wanted things for any business on Social Media. That is mainly because growing your community is leading to more sales. Often people think the only way to do that is to go straight to paid marketing Ads, and while Ads are a great way to reach more people, it certainly is not the only one. In my Social Media services I always talk first about all the free ways to grow, before I consider Ads. How about a giveaway, where your community needs to tag friends in your comments or even better share your content on their stories? You think they would not do that? It’s all about giving them an offer they simply can not resist.

Content to sell

Now that you have build a strong relationship with your community, and attract new users you might want to focus on selling. Like mentioned in the example above call to actions, your website link and beautiful photos of your products are a great way to sell. But these are by far not the only ones. How about you launch something new or something old with a new twist to boost your sales? Working with me as your social media manager we will find out together what sales strategy works the best for your business.

Can something go wrong?

Now you know the basics of 3 types of content, but before I let you go of and take a look at your content and how you could improve it I want to let you know that all the ideas mentioned above need to be done properly in order to give you the wanted outcome. Let’s take a launch of a new product for example; Image you just post the product one day and write: now in stock. Seems like the least amount of work but also the least amount of (sales.). Now imagine preparing your loyal audience for the launch with small sneak peaks, showing them a sneaky behind the scenes, simply letting them know of the process so they feel included. When you then finally launch your new product they already know what you are talking about and are more likely to buy.

What is next?
